Admissions

Lower School

Kindergarten & First Grade: Families interested in kindergarten and/or first grade are encouraged to apply early. Applications are submitted to the Admissions Office and testing and interview with the Head of Lower School, is scheduled through the Admissions Office. Early acceptance is offered, contact the Admissions office for details. Letters of acceptance are mailed March 1st.

Second Grade through fifth grade: Applications for grades two through five are accepted throughout the year. Individuals meet with the Head of Lower School for testing and an interview, references are contacted and positions are offered as space is available.

Middle and Upper School

Sixth Grade through Twelfth Grade: Applications for grades six through twelve are accepted throughout the year. Individuals meet with the Admissions Director and Director of Middle or Upper School along with an additional faculty member.

Individual tours of the school and observation of the students are welcomed and can be arranged throughout the year, please call the Admissions Office to schedule a date and time 843-671-2286 extension 315.


Application Steps:


  • Download an Application or request at 843-671-2286 extension 315
  • Complete the application (and essay grades 6-12) form and submit with the $65.00 application fee. Make checks payable to Hilton Head Preparatory School.
  • Complete and give the request for transcript form to your current school and ask them to mail or fax a copy of your child's transcripts to Hilton Head Prep. Do not request final transcripts. If you prefer to wait to let the previous school know you are considering leaving that school, you may provide copies of most current report cards and standardized testing scores.
  • Middle and Upper School applicants, give the confidential evaluation forms to your current English and Math teachers, ask them to send or e-mail to HHP.
  • Send student questionnaire, and any other pertinent information to the Admissions Office
  • Call the Admissions Office to schedule testing for Lower School applicants. Middle and Upper School contact SSAT for testing sites and dates. Please request scores be sent to Hilton Head Prep School (code # 3920).
  • Schedule interview with Admissions Director, followed by interviews with a faculty member and school director. This can often be done in conjunction with student spending a day at Prep.
  • Letter of Decision to student and their family from Hilton Head Prep.
