Boys Tennis

The Boys tennis team competes in the spring season and has their daily practices and matches on the courts at the South Carolina Yacht Club. Students from grades 6-12 are eligible to play on the team.

Coaches

Royce Silvan - Boys Tennis Coach

Mr. Silvan began his teaching career in 1987 as part of the teaching staff at Van der Meer Tennis Center. From there he attended college in Tyler, Texas. At Tyler he was the assistant professor for the Tennis Technology Program and played on the Men's Tennis Team (NJCAA National Champions). After college he taught tennis in Virginia and Georgia In 1999 and 2000 Royce taught at the Sea Pines Racquet Club in Hilton Head. After a brief sabbatical from Hilton Head, he moved back in 2004 as the Director of Tennis at South Beach Racquet Club and in 2005 he became the Resident Professional at the South Carolina Yacht Club. He is currently a PTR National Tester. As a player, Royce was top five in the south of Spain and top 50 nationally from 14 to 18 years old. He also played for Tyler Junior College as well as in the Men's Open in Virginia for six years and was ranked as high as #3 in singles. Royce was born and raised in Seville, Spain, is married to Cindy and has a daughter, Danielle.
