Golf

The Prep Golf Team practices at the nearby Ocean Course/Sea Marsh at Sea Pines. The golf team plays tournaments from March through April. Teams which the Prep golf team competes against include Beaufort Academy, Hilton Head Christian Academy, Pinewood Prep, and St. Andrew's. Several of Prep's former players played on both the Boys and the Girls All-State Golf Team in 2006 in 2007. The Prep Golf Team has won the South Carolina Independent School Association Golf Championship regions for the past six years and has gone to the SCISA State Championship for the past six years.

Coaches

Butch Hirsch - Golf Coach

Mr. Hirsch graduated from the University of New Hampshire where he studied Business Management, Accounting and Psychology and played defenseman on the collegiate hockey team. His professional life as a photographer led him to New York City where he primarily shot fashion and beauty. Mr. Hirsch golfed as young man, then took a 2 decade hiatus from the sport, and for the past 15 years has been an avid golfer again playing in numerous tournaments. He currently plays on the Sunbelt Senior Professional Golf Tour which takes him on the road competing in golf tournaments through the Southeast. He has coached numerous winning youth ice hockey teams at Sky Rink in New York City, as well as a high school ice hockey team for an independent school. Mr. Hirsch has served on the Jim Ferree Golf Tournament committee for three years. His coaching style is straightforward - achieve success the old fashioned way through commitment, practice, physical conditioning and nutrition and most of all team spirit. He is the father of George, a Prep student.
