College Application Process


Obtain a College Application Checklist located in the College Guidance Office. This checklist will guide you along when completing your college application. Whether you apply to a college on-line or hard copy, this checklist must be complete and submitted to the College Guidance Coordinator before we can begin to process each application.

You request letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, members of the clergy. The Guidance Counselor will write a letter for each senior.  All  letters will come back to the Guidance Office and will be kept confidential.

A final draft of your resume must stay in your file.  The resume will be sent as part of the package to the college.

Make a copy of the application for your own files.

* Reminder - the student must submit their SAT scores and/or ACT scores to the colleges by going to www.collegeboard.com and act.org.

The complete application package submitted by college guidance will contain the following:

  • College Application complete with signature and date. (If you apply online the application will not be included in the package.)
  • Official Hilton Head Prep transcript
  • Any additional secondary school transcripts, if applicable
  • Check for application fee
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Resume
  • Brief personal statement
  • Essay (if required)
