Development Overview

Development

The purpose of the Development Office is to establish and maintain long-term relations with and amongst alumni, parents, grandparents and friends of the school and to develop partnerships with local businesses and foundations. The office seeks to channel interest into a meaningful expression of support and solicit the funds necessary to provide for the general operations, capital, and endowment needs of the School.

The Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is the School's number one fundraising priority. The Annual Fund provides critical support to the School's operating budget by offsetting expenses not covered by tuition. Gifts to the Fund directly and immediately benefit each student and faculty member as well as every program on campus.

The 2007-2008 Annual Fund has begun. Our goal is $250,000. Here are some important facts about the annual fund:

  • Tuition and fees cover 90% of the cost of educating your child. The remaining 10% is supplemented by unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund.
  • The Annual Fund supports financial aid and helps the Prep community to more closely reflect the "real world", exposing children to the many benefits of social and economic diversity.
  • To attract and retain the finest and most committed teachers, Prep must provide a competitive compensation package. Annual Fund contributions reinforce to our faculty that we all value their unparalleled role in educating our students.

Special Events

The School holds several fundraising events throughout the year. The following events offer Prep families opportunities to support Prep both through additional monetary support and volunteerism:

  • Tennis Carnevale - The first fundraiser of the school year, Tennis Carnevale, held in September, offers the Prep Community the opportunity to participate in a round robin tennis tournament offering championships in the "Battle of the Grades" and the "Battle of the Schools". The event includes a dinner and auction the night before the tournament. A very successful tennis exhibition featuring Stan and Ramsey Smith as well as Prep parent Christine Damas, and local professional Jolene Watanabe was the highlight of the 2004 inaugural event.
  • Jubilee - Prep's largest fundraiser held in the winter features a formal dinner/dance and auction held in grand style.
  • Jim Ferree Golf Outing - In its 7th year, the Jim Ferree Golf Outing, held in March, presents a wonderful opportunity for the Prep Community to enjoy a day of golf and festivities in support of the Jim Ferree Golf Outing Scholarship Fund.
