American Studies II AP

Open to all juniors recommended on the basis of proficiency and interest in the field of history, this course covers the period from The Great West to the present. It involves a thorough chronological study of America's political, economic, and social past, with emphasis on the major movements and trends and the analysis and interpretation of issues and events. All students take the AP US History Exam in the spring.


American Studies II

This junior course is a traditional college preparatory survey of America's past from the settlement of the Great West to the present. Through lectures, class discussions, cooperative learning activities, supplementary readings, simulations, individual research, and class presentations, students develop note taking and study skills, critical writing and analytical skills, and seminar and debate skills.


American Studies I Honors

Open to all sophomores recommended on the basis of proficiency and interest in the field of history, this course is a thorough chronological study of America's political, economic, and social past from the Age of Exploration through the period of Reconstruction. It emphasizes major movements and trends and the analysis and interpretation of issues and events rather than the memorization of facts. The expectation is that all students will take the AP US History Exam in the spring of their junior year.


American Studies I

This sophomore course is a traditional college preparatory survey of America's past from the Age of Exploration through the period of Reconstruction. Through lectures, class discussions, cooperative learning activities, supplementary readings, simulations, individual research, and class presentations, students develop note taking and study skills, critical writing and analytical skills, and seminar and debate skills.


World History

This ninth grade course is a traditional college preparatory survey of European history from the Renaissance to the present. Students learn note taking and study skills, critical writing and debate skills, and historical research skills. Emphasis is placed on changing map of Europe as well as the art of classics in the literature of each period.


Economics

The objective of this course is to introduce students to the concepts and methods of economics, including macroeconomic theory and microeconomic theory. The course will include the study of economic history, the ideas of the influential economists, current economic issues and events, and personal finance.


Senior History

This course offers seniors a study of current issues facing our country and the world. Topics may vary from year to year to include, for example, diplomacy, military battles, and political strategy.
