Dr. Kallie Abreu González serves as a World Languages Teacher at Hilton Head Preparatory School, bringing nearly two decades of experience teaching Spanish in both independent school and university settings. A Hilton Head Island native, she is delighted to return home and share her passion for language and culture with the next generation of students.
Kallie most recently taught middle and upper school Spanish at Davidson Day School in North Carolina. She also spent more than ten years in higher education, teaching undergraduate Spanish courses at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and online continuing education Spanish courses through the University of Tennessee's Tennessee Language Center.
She earned both her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Spanish American Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she also completed a minor in Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies (LACIS). Her academic background and classroom experience reflect a deep commitment to language acquisition, cultural understanding, and preparing students to become confident global citizens.
Outside of school, Kallie enjoys spending time with her husband, Yasmani, and their three children, all of whom are part of the Hilton Head Prep community. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she loves running and hiking and is also an accomplished artist who enjoys painting murals and drawing.
Ms. Gillis teaches Middle School Spanish and is the World Languages Department Chair at Hilton Head Prep. She graduated summa cum laude from Furman University. After college she volunteered for 18 months at the orphanage Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos in Miacatlan, Mexico, where she taught English and was a caregiver in an elementary boys’ dorm. She has also taught middle and upper school Spanish in Darlington, SC, and in Zermatt, Switzerland, and used her Spanish to volunteer with refugees on the US/ Mexico border. She was born and raised on the Island and loves being back with her husband, Humberto. When not at Prep, you can find her running, swimming, biking, walking, and kayaking around the island.
Bibiana Osorio is from Colombia, South America. She has taught in diverse schools and methodologies both, in South America and in the United States. She joined the SPMA family in 2016 and she teaches the Spanish language and culture to all grade levels in school. In her free time Ms. Bibi likes walking, playing tennis, traveling with her son's soccer team and she loves watching videos of dances from around the world.
