Hilton Head Prep has hired Mr. Hiram Rodriguez as Director of Security and Transportation. Mr. Rodriquez brings 30 years of experience with Miami Dad Police where he served in numerous roles, retiring as Executive Officer for the Seaport Operations, overseeing security at the Port of Miami. Prior to that, he served as a Lieutenant in both the Homicide Bureau and the Narcotics Bureau as street gang section Commander. His vast experience and extensive training provide Prep with an expert in security and a proven leader to support safety and security on our campus.

Mr. Rodriguez is already known in our community as a baseball coach and has established positive relationships with many of our students and families. Prep is pleased to add a person who can connect with students and be another trusted adult that will have a positive influence on our kids.

In addition to adding this position, there are other security initiatives that are underway. The school is making a significant investment in campus safety and are moving quickly as is reasonable to put things in place. These include:

  • Upgraded cameras with Facial Recognition Software
  • Upgraded magnetic locks on all buildings with lockdown capability
  • Integrated software ecosystem through which locks, cameras and communications can work together
  • Alarm systems
  • Increased real-time communication capability across campus
  • Increased fencing to protect against wildlife threats
  • Partnership with Sea Pines Montessori through which Mr. Rodriguez will view the two schools as one campus in terms of security
