Summer Programs


Hilton Head Preparatory School Summer Programs provide an opportunity for every camper to develop skills and interests in a variety of areas. Enrollment is open to all in the community and are co-ed unless otherwise noted. Enrollment is limited and will be on a “first-come, first-served" basis.

We welcome friends, neighbors, Hilton Head Island & Bluffton residents and visitors! As camp sizes are limited, we encourage early registration. Please provide lunch for your child for full day camps if not included in description. For further information about offerings please email Mike Foley or call 843.715.8552. Tuition is required along with the online registration form to reserve a space in the Summer Camps.

Hilton Head Prep Summer Day Camp

Hilton Head Prep Summer Day Camp
Ages: 4 – 12

Prep Summer Day Camp promotes fun and fair play while enjoying games such as kickball, soccer, capture-the-flag, floor hockey, and so much more. Campers will also have some down time, participating in non-competitive group activities and crafts. Local field trips will be offered throughout the summer. Groups will be arranged by grade/age.

Animals of the Lowcountry

Animals of the Low Country

Grades: Rising 3-8

Dates: June 11-15 & July 16-20

Time: 9am - 3:30pm

Join us for a wonderful week of sharing experiences with all types of animals in the Low Country. Activities will include crabbing, exploring salt marsh mud flats, bird watching & amp; identifications, hands-on with alligators, working a farm, domestic animal care, police and therapy dogs, and dolphin interaction. Be ready to do some hiking, to get dirty and to get wet. It’s going to be a blast! Ages: 7-12 (Extra costs: For participation in working a farm and dolphin interaction – Approximately $30.00 total for both events)

Marine Biology

Dates: June 4 – June 8

Time: 9am - 3:30pm

We are so fortunate to be living on Hilton Head Island. The waters surrounding us are teaming with amazing and dynamic ocean life. Join me as we join the marine animals in their playground as we investigate and communicate with them. Activities will include Loggerhead turtle observations, boat-building, crabbing, transect studies, mud running, shark fishing, photography, bacteria cultures, plankton collections, and dolphin interactions. Ages: 12-18 (On Turtle day the activities will begin at 3 PM and extend until 11 PM.) (Extra costs: For participation in working with Sharks and dolphins - Approximately $60.00 total for both events.)

Basketball Camp

Grades: Rising 8 – 12

Dates: July 16-19

Camp is open to young men and women grades 8 through 12. Mornings are devoted to skill work, man defense, and the fast break. Evenings are for games. Coach Sulek has coached at three colleges and several high schools, including HHP where his teams won 7 state championships in 13 years. Coach Sterling played for Dr. Sulek at his NJ high school, was the captain of his HS and college teams and has over 600 wins as a high school coach. Camp emphasis is on doing things properly, intensity, and hard work and best effort all the time.

Junior Dolphin Football Camp

Junior Dolphin Football Camp

Grades: Rising 5 – 8

Dates: June 18-22

Time: 9am - Noon

Our Dolphin Football Camp will introduce and then develop game fundamentals including throwing, catching, kicking, blocking, tackling and agility as well as an introduction to strength and conditioning. Campers will play flag football games and have daily competitions. Camp will be a fun and engaging opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football, but also the mental strategy, proper attitude and emotional aspects of the game.

American Sign Language Camp

American Sign Language Camp
Grades: Rising 2nd through Rising 5th grade students

Dates: June 4 – June 8

Time: 12pm - 2:30pm

An introduction to the basics of American Sign Language through songs, poems, and interactive games! Students will learn important hand shapes that are part of ASL grammar. Also they will learn the alphabet, numbers, colors, calendar vocab, animals, and sports-just to name a few topics.

Chinese Language & Culture

Chinese Language & Culture

Age Group: 9-17

Dates: July 2-6

Time: 9:00-2:00

Learn the basics of Chinese language and culture in this introductory camp! Students will be exposed to Mandarin Chinese vocabulary and grammar. From greetings to Feng shui to etiquette to Chinese calligraphy to philosophy, students will learn about one of the largest and most influential economic powers in the world. Students will engage in Chinese cultural practices such as calligraphy and traditional painting.

Wilderness Survival

Wilderness Survival

Have you ever wondered how to “rough it” in the wilderness? Come learn about the outdoors and some basic survival skills! We’ll cover how to make a fire, basic orienteering, flora and fauna of South Carolina, building a shelter, and more!

Spend a fun-filled week building and destroying, creating and crashing! Each day, kids will engage in hands-on activities that will let them experience the science that affects our world. Young scientists will start to discover and explore basic principles with activities like encapsulating themselves in bubbles or catapult practice, while creating take-home models to showcase their work and success each day.

No Fear Public Speaking

Ages: 12-18

Time: 9am-12pm

Many people fear speaking in public, whether to classmates, friends, or potential employers. But greater ease in public speaking can be achieved through careful topic selection, preparation of a speech, and then rehearsal. We will stress the importance of vocal elements such as tone, pitch, and pacing, along with the importance of eye contact and engagement with an audience. Maximum 10 students

Shakespeare in the Summer

Time: 9am-12pm

While the curriculum of the English Department at Prep includes study of both plays and poems by The Bard, we cannot cover everything! Join as we spend time this summer reading, discussing, and then dramatizing a few of Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets. We will focus on the comedies and selected sonnets. Participants will memorize and then recite a speech or sonnet by week’s end.

Ages: 5 1/2-10 years old

Designed to inspire the creativity in your budding artist, each day we will be working with different mediums and projects to celebrate the different ways we can express ourselves. We'll be exploring drawing, painting, 3-D art, and more! On Friday, families will be invited to view our art show before students take home their projects. Even though campers will be working on the same project, we modify to match each child's skill to ensure that they are having fun as they learn. Each week, campers will have different projects, so there is no repeat for those signing up for more than one week.

Speed and Strength Camp: Do you want to train like a professional athlete? Whether you are a professional athlete or aspiring young player you can use the same cutting edge methodology to achieve your performance goals. We have trained NBA All-stars, NCAA All Americans, Former #1’s, as well as consulted in China, India, Japan, and Europe. Sessions are led by Coach DeMaria CSCS, ACSM, who is the current Director of Sports Performance @ Smith Stearns Tennis Academy and a USA Men’s National Team Coach. Sessions will focus on the development of speed, agility, quickness, strength, flexibility, explosiveness, and power.

Tormenta FC & JA Academy Soccer Camps

Tormenta FC & JA Academy Camps will offer a fun day of games and skill work for all ages. Full day camp includes futsal and indoor sessions in the afternoon. Coaches for our camps are all professional staff with a working knowledge on how to coach all ages and to create a positive learning environment.

HHI Summer Hoops

We are currently forming teams for our Hilton Head Island Summer Hoops League. Practice will begin June 11th and our season will end on championship Saturday, August 4th. All levels will have one 2-hour practice a week and one game per week. Click below for more information and to sign-up online!

Refunds for Summer Programs will not be issued unless a camp is canceled due to inadequate enrollment. In the event Hilton Head Prep cancels a camp, you will be notified one week in advance, and will be refunded the total amount.
