Summer Programs


Hilton Head Preparatory School Summer Programs provide an opportunity for every camper to develop skills and interests in a variety of areas. Enrollment is open to all in the community and are co-ed unless otherwise noted. Enrollment is limited and will be on a “first-come, first-served" basis.

We welcome friends, neighbors, Hilton Head Island & Bluffton residents and visitors! As camp sizes are limited, we encourage early registration. Please provide lunch for your child for full day camps if not included in description. For further information about offerings please email Mike Foley or call 843.715.8552. Tuition is required along with the online registration form to reserve a space in the Summer Camps.

Refund Policy

Refunds for Summer Programs will not be issued unless a camp is canceled due to inadequate enrollment. In the event Hilton Head Prep cancels a camp, you will be notified one week in advance, and will be refunded the total amount.

Hilton Head Prep 2019 Summer Program Listings

Marine Biology

Ages: 12-18

Dates: June 10 – 14

Time: 9am - 3:30pm

We are so fortunate to be living on Hilton Head Island. The waters surrounding us are teaming with amazing and dynamic ocean life. Join me as we interact, investigate, and communicate with marine animals in their playground. Activities will include Loggerhead turtle sights, kayaking, crabbing, transect studies, taking on the mud flats, birding, shark fishing, photography, plankton collections, lab work, and dolphin observations. Ages: 12-18 (On Turtle day the activities will begin at 3 PM and extend until 11 PM.) (Additional costs: For participation in working with sharks, kayaks, and dolphins - Approximately $60.00 total)

Animals of the Low Country

Ages: 9 – 14

Dates: June 17 – 21

Time: 9am - 3:30pm

Join us for a wonderful week of sharing experiences with all types of animals in the Low Country. Activities will include crabbing, exploring salt marsh mud flats, bird watching, hands-on with alligators, working a farm, domestic animal care, police and therapy dogs, and dolphin interaction. Be ready to do some hiking, to get dirty and to get wet. It’s going to be a blast! (Additional costs: For participation in working a farm and dolphin interaction – Approximately $40.00 total for both events)

Junior Dolphin Football Camp

Ages: 9 – 13

Dates: June 10-14

Time: 9am – 12pm

Our Dolphin Football Camp will introduce and then develop game fundamentals including throwing, catching, kicking, blocking, tackling and agility as well as an introduction to strength and conditioning. Campers will play flag football games and have daily competitions. Camp will be a fun and engaging opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football, but also the mental strategy, proper attitude and emotional aspects of the game.

Brick Building with Lights & Sound Workshop

Ages: 7 – 12

Dates: June 3 – 7

Time: 9am – 12pm

How about becoming an architect and electronics scientist. Combine everything into one. Make endless combinations of brick construction and electronics. Invent anything and make it work all by doing it the Sciensational Way!! How about building your own light post with color effects. Build and design your own brick tower, light it up, play music, and turn on your LED'S. Build your own brick bridge with melody and sound. Construct a brick mammal, a three level house, and lighthouse. Put in overhead lights. Now it is your time to design, think, and use your inventor’s skills. The sky is the limit! All of this you take home. STEAM your way to the future!

Follow Me Robot

Ages: 7 – 12

Dates: June 3 – 7

Time: 1pm – 4pm

How would you like to build a robot that has four built-in microphones? It will detect the sound source and in turn it will move and turn accordingly. It is your own robot to build and take home. Wow! It starts flashing and plays Do-Re-Me. Make it move the way you want it to move. It is so smart. It will move in its own routine if it does not get a signal in 1 minute. It will go to sleep if you do not issue any commands in 90 seconds. However, you can wake it up. Learn about the different gears and sensors as you build it. Get to build other robots working in groups. Join in our Sumo wrestling and obstacle course events with what you have built. See everything happening as you build. That's the Sciensational way!

Harry Potter Magical Mystery Tour

Ages: 6 - 11

Dates: June 10 – 14

Time: 9am – 12pm

All aboard for lots of hands-on fun! Join in the escapades of Harry and his friends. Play Quidditch. Make an edible wand. We will brew some fantastic potions to drink. Let's create and watch some amazing chemical reactions. Watch a mirage appear. You won't believe it! Wonder where the sorting hat will place you? Make cool crystals. Come join us where the magic of science, art, and literature meet. Harry, Ron, and Hermoine are waiting for your arrival! Experiment with colored magic sand. See a mysterious glowing ball.

Does your young student love computers? Creating? This program was made for them! Code IT is an exciting hands-on, half-day summer coding program for children in rising grades 2-6. The mission is simple – teach students to enjoy all things coding and web. Students learn to build basic web pages, animations, programs to run robots and simple games – and are encouraged to share their experience when they get home! Parents you also get access to fun activities you can do with your kids even after the camp has ended to help spark an even greater love for coding.

Code IT - Beginner Coding Informational Flyer

Arcade Electronics Galore

Ages: 8 – 13

Dates: June 17 – 21

Time: 9am – 12pm

Get ready to build and play your own arcade games and more. You will have at your disposal, resistors, switches, wires, LED diodes, transistors and more. Do not get overwhelmed. Building with electronics is fun. You will program the spinning light fan to display different sayings. Build and play a Home Run Derby game. See who gets the most home runs before getting 10 outs. A winning song will cheer. Build circuits to test your memory. Build an electronic circuit that plays the card game 21. You can learn to program the circuit board to emit different funky sounds. Play with the disco ball, sirens, or a light show. Learn the effects of the different electronic components. Learn what amps, volts, resistance and power are. Yes, this is Sciensational Workshops learn by doing. That is STEM.

Creative Writing Workshop

Ages: 12 - 17

Dates: July 8 – 12

Time: 8:30am – 12pm

Summer is a time to perhaps look at life in a more leisurely and creative way. Let this camp help unlock your creative passion (poetry, short story, fiction, non-fiction) as we work together to create and illustrate memorable original works. Creative writing campers will work on their own manuscripts and then share their work with others in the group. Campers will present a reading at the end of the week to interested guests. SNACKS INCLUDED!!

Let's Read a Beach Book

Ages: 12 – 17

Dates: July 8 – 12

Time: 1:30pm – 4pm

As Henry James once expressed, the two most beautiful words in the English language are "summer afternoons." Let's come together during beautiful summer afternoons to read and share an oft-maligned genre, the "beach book." We will individually choose a book (perhaps by starting our week together at Barnes & Noble), explore its themes, read, have snacks, and -- at the end of our time together -- tell one another what we thought of our book. We will write reviews of our books so others can profit from our experience.

Basketball Camp

Ages: 13 – 17

Camp is open to young men and women grades 8 through 12. Mornings are devoted to skill work, man defense, and the fast break. Evenings are for games. Coach Sulek has coached at three colleges and several high schools, including HHP where his teams won 7 state championships in 13 years. Coach Sterling played for Dr. Sulek at his NJ high school, was the captain of his HS and college teams and has over 600 wins as a high school coach. Camp emphasis is on doing things properly, intensity, and hard work and best effort all the time.

Summer Strength & Conditioning

Coed Ages: 12 – 18

Speed and Strength Camp: Do you want to train like a professional athlete? Whether you are a professional athlete or aspiring young player you can use the same cutting edge methodology to achieve your performance goals. We have trained NBA All-stars, NCAA All Americans, Former #1’s, as well as consulted in China, India, Japan, and Europe. Sessions are led by Coach DeMaria CSCS, ACSM, who is the current Director of Sports Performance @ Smith Stearns Tennis Academy and a USA Men’s National Team Coach. Sessions will focus on the development of speed, agility, quickness, strength, flexibility, explosiveness, and power.

Vlogging (Video Editing for the Millennial)

Have you been thinking of starting your own YouTube channel but don't know where to start? Editing for this generation is different from any other. Quicker cuts, sarcastic marketing, funny thumbnails, etc. We will use social media platforms to learn basic editing skills.

Tormenta FC & JA Academy Soccer Camps

Tormenta FC & JA Academy Camps will offer a fun day of games and skill work for all ages. Full day camp includes futsal and indoor sessions in the afternoon. Coaches for our camps are all professional staff with a working knowledge on how to coach all ages and to create a positive learning environment.
