“We are thrilled to elevate Johnny Campbell from within our Prep coaching ranks to be the next head coach of our girls basketball program," said Shon Hardy, Director of Athletics. "His strong rapport with students, and experience at both the middle school and high school levels in our program — along with his previous experience working with professional athletes — make him an exceptional fit for this role. As the father of one of the most accomplished players in the girls basketball program’s history, he brings a deep, personal connection to our team’s legacy. We’re excited for the passion, expertise, and mentorship Coach Campbell will bring to our student-athletes."
Coach Campbell has spent the last three seasons as a member of the Hilton Head Prep basketball coaching staff, helping shape the culture and growth of the girls program. Prior to his time at Prep, he served as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at the Miami Valley School and coached multiple AAU teams. His coaching experience also includes three years on the University of Dayton Baseball Coaching Staff. His wide-ranging athletic background also includes experience as a MLBPA Certified Player Agent, providing him with a strong foundation in elite player development and mentorship.
“I am honored to accept the Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach position at Hilton Head Prep,” said Coach Campbell. “I am planning to build upon the existing positive culture with a commitment to individual player development, toughness, grit, and embracing the Prep values. I will bring the perspective of a parent who watched his children flourish in the Prep community, and as a coach who has been on staff in the basketball program the past three seasons. As an experienced coach, I will draw upon my experiences at various levels to lead and mentor our team.”
Coach Campbell’s vision includes fostering a culture of excellence, resilience, and unity while emphasizing the values that make Hilton Head Prep a special place for student-athletes. The Prep community is excited to support him as he leads the girls basketball program into its next chapter.
