December 2021 - Justin Sonfield '91

After graduating from Hilton Head Prep in 1991 and then Sewanee in 1995 (with a B.A. in Economics), Justin went to work for May Co. Department Stores in Washington D.C. as an Executive Trainee.  He became the assistant buyer of textiles as his first job.  
After being promoted through a few offices, Justin decided to move to Atlanta, GA and became an assistant buyer at Rich's.  He worked his way up over the years to Divisional VP of Planning.  In 2009, Rich's/Macy's consolidated all divisions to NYC and he took the role of Group VP of Planning.  After serving in a few more roles with Rich's/Macys, Justin left the company to take a position with Bed, Bath and Beyond as the Divisional Merchandise Manager of "The Bed" division. Upon his departure from Bed, Bath and Beyond, Justin took a position as the President of The Company Store.  He grew the company to sell it and completed the sale to The Home Depot in 2018.  After the sale, he was recruited to be the CEO of Jonathan Adler.Justin says, "This has been the absolute best job of my career as I am doing absolutely everything I love."  Along the way he met his soulmate, Naomi, in 2008 and were married in 2010. Justin and Naomi have one child together, Jack, who is 7.Justin also has two daughters from his previous marriage, Alex, who is 18 and attends Dickenson College, and Caroline, who is 16.  Justin and his family currently live in Glen Ridge, NJ and spend their weekends living on their sailboat on the Hudson River sailing the waters of the North Atlantic. They also love travelling and are most often found in Disney World, making movie accurate Star Wars costumes, which they use to bring smiles to children and adults alike while helping raise money for charities such as Make A Wish.
