Prep picks up a "W" in the first of two games against rival HHCA

The fans always come out for Prep/HHCA face-offs and the January 11th, 2022 match up was no different.  The Lady Dolphins played host in the first of two rival games that will be held this season (the next one is scheduled at HHCA's new gym on February 4th.)  It was clear from tip-off that the two teams were in for a defensive battle, as the score was just 3-2 (Dolphins) after quarter 1.  The Dolphins kicked it into gear in the 2nd quarter with two nice buckets by A. Brothers and H. Harper.  Lila Roberts hit a crowd-pleasing 3-pointer at the half-time buzzer from a nice feed from Harper Hedden, to put the Dolphins up 10-4.  The Eagles were not going to give up that easy, however, and were able to score 10 points in the 3rd quarter to get the game back within 2 points.  However, an intentional foul call late in the game put Harper Hedden on the line, where she knocked down 1 of 2 to put the Dolphins ahead by 3 with 8 seconds to go.  A last second attempt by HHCA's Sissy Thompson came up just short, as the Dolphins squeaked by the Eagles 21-18.  Leading the Dolphins was fantastic guard play from seventh graders Ashley Brothers (8), Harper Hedden (7), and eighth grader Lila Roberts (6).  The Dolphins are back in action on Friday, when they take on BA at home.
