Boarding Program

The Hilton Head Preparatory School residential program strives to create raving fans. Our House Parents work diligently to create a structured and caring environment for our students.

The House Parent is an integral role in the house. Often times, our House Parent becomes a family member away from home for the students.

In each house, the students are responsible for daily chores, which assist with keeping the home clean and neat. As part of their daily routine, each student is responsible for the cleaning of his/her own room, making their bed, vacuuming the floors, etc. We believe this instills a sense of responsibility, a sense of ownership, and gives the students the ability to take pride in their surroundings.

In addition to planning events for the students, House Parents work to communicate with each family via email. Families in turn are welcome to contact the House Parent with any questions or concerns as well.

Each boarding student has the opportunity to participate year round on a competitive athletic team or become involved with an after school activity. Competitive athletic teams require more of a commitment to the team as they may practice Mondays – Saturdays and may include travel to neighboring schools for competition. To acquire PE credit graduation requirements, a student must participate on a competitive athletic team or in our after school activity program.

Upon completion of activities/athletics students return home for dinner and the opportunity to socialize with friends. After dinner, students have study hall in their respective house. Students who achieve Trustee, Headmaster or Faculty Honor Roll (minimum average of 85%) will have earned honor roll privileges. These privileges allow these students to watch television in the rec room, use their computer to watch a movie or play a game, make phone calls, or visit with another honor roll student. Those not on the honor roll are expected to be in in the main room of the house studying. Our goal is to have as many students as possible on the honor roll.

All three of Prep's boarding homes are very close to each other and offer a safe and quiet neighborhood. Also, they are just over a half mile from the school, 1.2 miles to shopping and .1 miles to the beach.

The House Parents work hard to provide a structured, warm, and family-like atmosphere for the students. The aforementioned information is just the tip of the iceberg of how we strive to create raving fans. We look forward to hearing from you!

Weekend Events

Weekends at Prep are full of opportunities to remain active and engaged. We are able to open our facilities including the gym, fitness center and athletic fields, all of which provide time to socialize with friends.

Prep also provides trips off campus. These typically include beaches, local shopping or activities. Students are able to participate in the trip(s) of their choice. Being located so closely to the beach allows us the benefit of being able to visit regularly.
